From Transylvania to Europe: Youth Workers Join Forces for Human Rights Education
The mobility brought together 27 youth workers, trainers and facilitators from Romania, Lithuania, Spain, Cyprus, Greece, Poland, Italy and Hungary, creating a diverse European learning space in the heart of Transylvania. The project focused on how human rights can be better understood, discussed and promoted among young people and local communities.
Through non-formal education methods, participants explored human rights not only as a theoretical concept, but as something connected to everyday life, community involvement and democratic participation. The programme included workshops, simulations, structured debates, intercultural activities, group reflection, teamwork and practical exercises designed to help youth workers develop new tools for their work with young people.
A key part of the project was the connection with the local community. During the training course, the international group worked with students from Liceul Teoretic Joseph Haltrich Sighișoara, where youth workers had the opportunity to test the workshops they had developed during the project. The local activity created a space for dialogue around Erasmus+ opportunities, human rights, active citizenship and the role of young people in shaping more inclusive communities.
The project aimed to support youth workers in becoming multipliers of Human Rights Education in their own communities. After returning home, the participants continued the impact of the project by carrying out dissemination activities and implementing the educational activities developed and tested during the mobility. In this way, the learning experience in Sighișoara continued through local workshops, public events and community-based actions across the partner countries.
One of the main outcomes of the project is “LOUDLAND - Online Resource Centre”, an open-access platform created to gather educational resources, tools and materials related to Human Rights Education, active citizenship and democratic participation.

Through “Get Up, Stand Up! 4 the HRs”, Sighișoara became a meeting point for European youth workers committed to promoting human rights, inclusion and democratic values. The project contributed to the development of youth work in Europe and supported the creation of meaningful learning experiences based on dialogue, cooperation and active participation.
